A genuine Panama hat can easily be transported in its country of origin rolled up in a wooden box, traditionally made of balsa wood, without damaging the fibers or losing its shape.  

However, in comparatively lower humidity, such as in Europe, the hat is less easy to roll. Furthermore, it should not be compressed against the head, as otherwise the fibers will easily break.

The Panama hat should not be taken off or put on at the crown, but actually only at the brim to avoid fiber breakage due to compression.    

However, since very few users pay attention to this, we ask our customers to apply a silicone reinforcement (crown protecting) to the inside of the crown as a precautionary measure, free of charge and upon request, before delivery.     

This makes the hat opening reinforced from the inside and shatter-proof. 

However, many of our Panama hat shops are already equipped with them.
