The Clásico Montecristi is the introduction to the fascinating world of genuine Montecristi Panama hats. Made in the coastal city of Montecristi, Manabí Province, Ecuador — the only region in the world where this hat is made using traditional methods.

What makes a real Montecristi

Unlike inexpensive Panama hats from Cuenca or Asia, the Montecristi is made exclusively by hand using paper-thin Toquilla straw from a single master braider woven. The Clásico reaches Degree 20–22 at 100 to 120 threads per inch. The result is a hat that feels like silk.

Place the tape measure horizontally around your head at forehead level (above your eyebrows). The resulting measurement in centimeters represents your hat size. Please use this measurement in centimeters to order your hat from us. If you don't have a tape measure, you can also wrap a piece of string around your head and then measure it with a ruler.
