Item description:

Panama straw of the finest quality has been handcrafted into this luxurious summer hat.

✓ Color: Natural
✓ Sizes: S (55-56), M (57-58), L (59-60), XL (61-62) cm.
✓ Material: 100% palm fiber from the "Toquilla Palm." Fine toquilla straw from the disc flower plant Carludovica palmata (also called the "Panama hat plant").
✓ Degrees: 32 to 34
✓ Fiber thickness (fabric): 0.8 to 1 mm.
✓ Processing time approx. 3 to 4 months.
✓ Height of hat crown: approx. 10 to 11 cm
✓ Brim (normal) approx. 6.5 to 7 cm.

✓ Each hat is a unique piece made by experienced hat makers from Montecristi by tradition.

We offer our customers only the best, so you can order Montecristi hats from grades 28-40 from us. That means 28 to 40 fibers per inch. However, online only up to 34 can be ordered and from 35 to 40 is only available as a special order.

Unfortunately, there are many dealers who sell Cuenca hats that go up to grade 18 as Montecristi hats , but real Montecristi hats only start at grade 16. We take great care to ensure that our Montecristi hats are real Montecristi, which is why each of our hats comes with a certificate of authenticity.

All major hat manufacturers in the world predominantly buy the finished woven hats from Montecristi, also called blanks because they are cheap, and simply shape them. Very often this process no longer takes place in Ecuador.

The term “Sombrero Montecristi” in German Montecristi Hat is a protected term.

This may therefore only be used if the hat was actually 100% made in Montecristi.

Secondly, Ecuador's hat weaving art was designated an intangible cultural heritage in 2012, due to the unique processing and weaving techniques of this legendary craft.

Your hat size

Measure correctly!

Place the tape measure horizontally around your head at forehead level (above your eyebrows). The resulting measurement in centimeters represents your hat size. Please use this measurement in centimeters to order your hat from us. If you don't have a tape measure, you can also wrap a piece of string around your head and then measure it with a ruler.

With this table you can easily convert your head circumference into German hat size, US hat size, UK hat size or international hat size.

What is important is:

In Germany, the head width corresponds to the height.

So if you have a head circumference of 57 centimeters, you also have hat size 57 and say “M” (from 57 to 58 cm.)

In America and England, measurements are taken in inches.

To determine the hat size, you can either Head circumference in centimeters Measure and then convert or determine the head circumference with an inch tape measure.

Are there separate size charts for men, women, and children? No, only the head circumference counts!
